Romania's Gopo Awards 2025: "The Unseen Year" and "Moromeții 3" Top Nominations

The nominations for the 2025 Gopo Awards, honoring the successes within Romanian filmmaking, have been unveiled, featuring six movies vying for the title of Best Feature Film. More than 700 experts from the movie business will cast their votes to determine the victors. The outcomes will be revealed during the 19th Gopo Awards Ceremony scheduled for April 29 at the National Theater in Bucharest.

The films with the highest number of nominations for this year are The New Year That Wasn't/Anul Nou care Nu-A Venit and Moromeții 3 Each of them received 13 nominations, followed by Săptămâna Mare/Holy Week with 12 and Three Kilometers to the End of the World / Three Kilometers to the Edge of the Earth with 9.

Two documentary films are also included on the list, namely Alice ON & OFF by Isabela Tent and Nasty by Tudor Giurgiu, Cristian Pascariu, and Tudor D. Popescu

The Best Director category features Isabela Tent ( Alice ON & OFF ), Bogdan Mureșanu ( Anul Nou care nu s-a desfășurat ), Stere Gulea ( Moromeții 3 ), Andrei Cohn ( Săptămâna Mare ), and Emanuel Părvu ( Three kilometers to the end of the world ).

The leading actresses competing are Nicoleta Hâncu, Olga Török, Rodica Lazăr, Olimpia Melinte, and Nicoleta Lefter, whereas the contenders for Best Actor include Adrian Văncică, Yann Verburgh, Emanuel Pârvu, Alex Călin, and Doru Bem.

For the category of Best Documentary, the nominees are Alice ON & OFF (directed by Isabela Tent), Leo Records: Exclusively for Our Buddies (Ioana Grigore), Maia - Portrait with Hands (Alexandra Gulea), Moartea lui Iosif Zagor (Adi Dohotaru), and Opt Illustrate from the Ideal World (Radu Jude and Christian Ferencz-Flatz)
