Oscar-Winning Actor Mikey Madison on Her Candidacy for 'Anora,' Directed by Sean Baker

Los Angeles [USA], March 20 (ANI): Mikey Madison is reveling in the success of her Academy Award victory following her role in 'Anora'.

In Sean Baker's "Anora," Mikey takes on the role of a young sex worker from Brooklyn.

When choosing Mikey for the role, Baker remembered, “Despite having limited screen time in 'Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood,' she left an indelible mark. Her versatility in portraying various characters, her quicksilver shifts in emotion, her comedic timing, her courageous decisions, and her incredible scream were all standout elements. That’s when we decided to approach her about joining us. Following our meeting with Mikey, where we discovered she shared similar cinematic interests and enthusiasm for my concept, the part was tailored specifically for her.”

Madison was excited about the outreach - and taken aback, as mentioned in a press release.

She remembered being stunned that Sean wanted to meet her, but she didn’t intend to doubt it.

"I absolutely love his creations, and 'Tangerine' happens to be among my most cherished films. Recently, I had a meeting over coffee with Sean and Samantha where they shared an incredible and wild concept with me. Sean sought my input and enquired whether I would consider bringing the project to life through filmmaking. Without hesitation, I agreed. It made me feel incredibly fortunate to have been chosen by him for collaboration," Madison mentioned additionally.

At the 97th Academy Awards, Anora was a big victor, securing five Oscars such as Best Picture and Best Director. After its successful showing, the movie can now be streamed solely on JioHotstar’s Peacock Hub. (ANI)
