Karma Automotive Aims to Debut a Luxurious Extend-Range Coupe

This is the Karma Amaris, a two-door luxury sports car set to be produced by a company based in California. Karma Automotive That's the smaller firm that took over after everything fell apart. Fisker ’s first bankruptcy and continued building improved versions of the Karma four-door plug-in hybrid sedan.

Returning to the Amaris, it's quite an attractive vehicle with broad hips and "swan doors" that are expected to open upward for convenient entry and exit. Its styling draws significantly from its four-door counterpart, the Revero , which is an evolved version of the initial Fisker Karma.

The vehicle sits on 22-inch forged aluminum wheels designed in a sleek style that Karma refers to as "Constellation." The exterior combines materials like aluminum and carbon fiber. Additionally, it features a one-piece hood at the front and an integrated rear spoiler that cuts through air resistance and enhances downward pressure.

Beneath the surface, the Amaris utilizes an updated version of the fully aluminum spaceframe that originates from the Revero. This approach enables the petite Californian firm to accelerate the development process and introduce the sleek coupe more swiftly than if they had to create the chassis entirely anew.

What sets Karma's new coupe apart from others is its powertrain. Although specifications remain undisclosed, we understand that the Amaris will feature one. extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) that employs a four-cylinder gasoline engine sourced from BMW and an electric generator. While batteries and electric motors for powering the wheels are included, specific information about them hasn't been revealed yet. This new gasoline engine represents an upgrade from the current three-cylinder 1.5-liter unit utilized by Karma.

It’s the identical setup as in the previous scenario. This performance metric is seven-tenths of a second quicker than the projected figures for the upcoming Gysera electric sedan and one full second swifter than the Revero plug-in hybrid.

Regarding the two four-door models, Karma has announced that the Gysera showcased last year will replace the Revero. However, this requires some clarification— Gyesera was supposed to be a Revero-based all-electric sedan, but now Karma said it will switch to an EREV powertrain “in response to changes in the near-term market demand for EVs.” As a reminder, the soon-to-be-discontinued Revero, which traces its roots to the original Fisker Karma, will be replaced with the Gyesera which is a revised version of the Revero.

Sales of the Karma Amaris coupe are slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, followed by the Kaveya The all-electric "super-coupé" set for release in 2027 and the Ivara electric SUV scheduled for 2028. Prior to their launch, the focus will be on performance-oriented models. Invictus It will be available for purchase during the second quarter of this year, whereas the updated Gyesera EREV four-seater model is scheduled to launch in the last quarter of 2025.
