It will be helmed by Tony Award-winning director David Cromer.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show is still in the initial development phase, with no announcement made regarding a production schedule. The project will be funded by Gail Berman, Sam Feldman, Michael Gorfaine, and Broadway theater proprietor Jimmy Nederlander.
It will be in collaboration with Frank Marshall and Jere Harris.
The show's title originates from Taylor's famous song, "Fire and Rain," which debuted in 1970 on his second album, Sweet Baby James.
The song peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This six-time Grammy Award winner, known for hits like 'You've Got a Friend' and 'Sweet Baby James,' has never before had their music catalog featured in a significant theater production, as noted by The Hollywood Reporter.
Nonetheless, two tracks from his album Flag were included in the musical Working.
Pulitzer laureate Letts penned the highly praised play "August: Osage County," along with "Killer Joe" and "Bug," all of which were later turned into movies. Additionally, he created "Superior Donuts," which has been adapted for television.
