Upon joining United at the age of 18 and becoming a part of the squad, the young winger had an initial sluggish beginning to his time at the club, making appearances in only nine matches throughout his first three seasons.
Diallo had an inconsistent season on loan at Rangers for the 2021-22 campaign, but truly excelled at Sunderland in the 2022-23 season, where he scored as many as 14 goals in 42 appearances for Sunderland.
His return to United at the start of last season was initially delayed due to injury, but the 22-year-old began to appear regularly during the second half of the season.
Diallo gave several hints of his abilities before reaching his peak with a last-minute winning goal against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals in March.
He scored his first Premier League goal against Newcastle in May and has repeated that performance in this period with six goals and seven assists, despite Manchester United's challenging season so far.
Diallo has turned out to be a standout performer under Amorim, starting every game since he took over, showcasing his effectiveness by scoring the goal that beat Man City in December and the equalising goal against Liverpool on Sunday.
The 22-year-old has appeared either as a wing back or in one of the two attacking positions behind the striker as part of the 39-year-old's 3-4-3 formation.
Last month, Amorim was full of praise for Diallo's progress, but also mentioned that there are still areas of his game that need improvement.
'He has a lot of talent, but he is quite small in stature,' Amorim said after United beat Everton 4-0, where Diallo provided two assists.
He done excellent work but also needs to make some improvements. He was truly superb again. He played very well in both defensive and attacking sides, so he needs to keep up this outstanding performance.
You could sense he was extremely exhausted by the end of the game, so we needed to manage that and enhance his physical endurance.
'I'd like to take the credit for (Amad's intensity), but that's him. He's like that. He's clever. He's very passionate and explosive.'
